Homework Nightly homework should consist of the following: Please read! Please read to your child each night. Please also have your child read to you. Make sure they are pointing to each word as it is read if they are a level 6 or below (one to one correspondence). You may read to your child and ask comprehension questions. Some examples are: 1. Who are the characters in the story? Who is the main character? 2. What happened in the beginning of the story? The middle? The end? 3. Have you made any text to text connections? Text to self? 4. Where does the story take place?(setting) Please work on reading vocabulary words each night. These are commonly used words that appear over and over again in the books they read in class. Daily homework may also consist of Math about 4 times a week. Please remember to send back Math homework the next day. Weekly homework packet comes home every Friday. Homework packet is due the following Friday. Please send in the entire packet for grading. Please have your child practice writing 3 sentences on the same topic, at home. Please work on starting each sentence with a capital letter and ending each sentence with the appropriate punctuation mark. It would be good if this could be done once or twice a week. (EX: Mary likes to play outside. She rides her bike each day. Mary plays jump rope with her friend.)
