What is the Postive Behavior System (PBS)?
The "Positive Behavior System" is a district wide behavior plan put in place to promote positive and safe behavior. The Addams
values are "Be Safe," "Be Respectful," and "Be Responsible" at all times. It is expected that students will carry out their
positive citizenship from arrival to dismissal in all areas of the school.
What is our PBS behavior plan?
The Addams school wide behavior plan is:
*The first offense results in a verbal warning (stays on green but flips to warning).
*The second offense results in a flip to yellow and a note written in the planner, which will be signed by a parent and returned the next day.
*The third offense results in a flip to red and the student filling out a "think sheet,” which will be signed by a parent and returned the next day.
*The fourth offense results in a flip to double red. The student will be sent to the principal with an Office Discipline Referral (ODR).
*All unsafe situations will result in an immediate Office Discipline Referral (ODR).
What is the planner and how are the planner and homework used?
*All homework will be recorded by your child in the planner at the end of every school day.
*Please provide a time and a place for your child to complete his or her homework. Your child has been instructed in how to do this homework and should be able to
explain it to you.
*All homework is due the next school day unless otherwise indicated.
*EVERY NIGHT, please review the completed homework with your child, sign the planner (EVEN IF THE WORK HAS NOT BEEN
COMPLETED) and have your child put the planner and work in their backpack BEFORE going to bed.
*If you or your child have difficulty reading the planner or remembering the homework, please visit our web site
http://teacherweb.com/MI/SouthRedford/BaughmanNagelhout. All homework is listed on that web site. This web
site contains many useful resources for students and parents.
*Any notes you may wish to write to a teacher may be recorded in the parent section at the bottom of each planner page.
*Any notes we may write to you will be recorded in the teacher section below.
When is the website updated?
Homework is updated daily with assignments found on the day they were assigned. Therefore, if your child is absent,
you can keep up with missed daily assignments. They will be posted at the end of each day.
How is healthy snack done in 3rd grade?
Snack time will be held each day mid-morning. Please send only
NON-MESSY, HEALTHY snacks. Fruit such as apples, bananas, or
grapes make great healthy snacks. Vegetables or granola bars
make great healthy snacks too. Please DO NOT send in snacks such
as yogurt, fruit cups, jello, pudding, cookies, candy, chips,
popcorn, dip, etc. LET'S BE HEALTHY! There is also no sharing
of snacks (food allergies, parental preferences), so if your
child does not bring a snack to school, he/she will not be able
to eat during snack time. Thank you for your support and
cooperation!
How can my child celebrate his/her birthday in class?
If you choose to have your child celebrate their birthday in
class, please support the South Redford Wellness Policy by
sending in only NON-FOOD items such as pencils, erasers,
stickers, etc.
In addition, consider the following suggestions:
*Schedule a time to read to our class
*Donate an indoor recess game or puzzle
*Donate a book to the class library
*Share a game with the class during recess
*Donate a piece of play equipment for recess
Feel free to be creative. There is also no more sharing of
birthday items to other classrooms/teachers, so only send enough
for our class. Any questions or suggestions, please do not
hesitate to contact us. Thank you in advance for supporting the
health of our students.
What is the WWR?
The WWR is the Weekly Work Review form that is sent home every
Thursday with the contents of your child's mailbox. The WWR lists
the homework, assessments, notes from the office, announcements
from the teachers, etc. for the week. It needs to be signed by a
parent and returned every Friday. We ask that it is signed to
make sure you are reviewing the work/papers coming home with your
child each week. Please check/sign the planner daily for other
important things sent home throughout the week, as the WWR and
mailbox contents are only sent home on Thursdays.
