Students in 2nd grade should try to do about 30 minutes of homework each
night.
Reading--Each student will be bringing home a "Book-in-a-Bag" with a sheet
to record the books he/she reads. I'd like to see students read at least 20
minutes each night. The best way to improve fluency and comprehension is to
read, read, READ!!!
Spelling--Students will be bringing home a half sheet on Mondays with a list
of 12-15 words on it. Practice writing, spelling, even chanting the
spellings of each word every night. Spelling tests will be given on
Fridays.
Math Facts--It is extremely important for students to have a quick recall of
the basic addition and subtraction facts by the end of second grade.
Students will take SNAP (Math fact) Tests on Mondays and Thursdays. It will
be very beneficial to review the addition flash cards every night.
