Who will my science teacher be?

The 4th grade starts out with each teacher, teaching her own class a unit
about Monarch butterflies. Then we alternate social studies and science.
You will have your homeroom teacher for social studies, but each teacher
specializes in an area of science. Therefore, you will have a different 4th
grade teacher for each new science unit.

I've heard fourth grade is really hard. Is it?

Every year, there is more expected of you, so it is more challenging.
However, it is also a great deal of fun! Because you are getting older, you
will be allowed more choices--including a little bit of freedom now and
then! Most students love 4th grade, and enjoy being on the intermediate
side of the building.

I've heard we have to write everything in cursive. Is that true?

Not exactly. During the first part of the year, we review how to write in
cursive. After that, you are expected to be able to use cursive
handwriting. Not everything will be in cursive, but we will use it most of
the time. This daily cursive writing will help you become good at it.

Do I have to learn the location of all 50 states?

By the end of the year, you will have studied all 50 states and capitals.
Don't panic! We break up the United States into manageable sections, so you
won't have to study all states at once!

What time is recess? What doors do we use?

Recess is at 10:55 am. This year, you will play on the other side of the
playground! You will exit and re-enter the building using the door next to
the art room.
