My name is Melissa Huseth. I was born and raised in Kenyon, MN, and
graduated from Kenyon High School. While in high school I was active in 3
sports: volleyball, basketball and softball. We were lucky enough to make
it to the state tournaments 2 years in volleyball and one year in
basketball. What a great experience! I also love music. I played the
trumpet in band and sang soprano (not any more!) in our high school choir
and pops ensemble.
I graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College with a Biology degree.
Two years later I earned my teaching and coaching certification from Buena
Vista College in Storm Lake, IA. In 2001 I finished my Masters in Education
from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. I married my high school
sweetheart after graduating from Gustavus and we now live in the Dennison
area with our three children: Hailey, Rachel, and Luke and our dogs: Ben and
Grizzly. Hailey is a 5th grader at Cannon Falls elementary, Rachel is a
2nd grader and Luke just turned one this past May! Both girls love to be
the “ball girls” for the Cannon Falls Bombers!
Most of my hobbies involve the outdoors. I enjoy running, playing
sports, biking, camping, exploring the North woods, and playing ball with my
girls. I also enjoy spending time with friends and reading.
This is my 8th year teaching 7th grade science at CFMS, 3rd year
teaching the 8th grade environmental studies exploratory. I will begin my
4th year as the CF varsity volleyball coach. I truly enjoy coaching and have
coached all sorts of sports from preschool to varsity in Minnesota and
Iowa. Prior to my teaching job in Cannon Falls I taught 8th grade science
for five years in Apple Valley, MN.
I am very happy and fortunate to be working in Cannon Falls and I am
very proud of the kids that I teach and coach. Thank you for sharing your
children with me.
