The Health Office provides Vision and Hearing Screenings for grades K, 1, 3,
5, and 7 in the fall.
Color Vision screening will be done on Kindergarten students.
Scoliosis screening will be done on 5th grade girls in the fall, and 6th
grade girls in the spring. Boys can be done at this time also. It is done
during a gym class.
Pediculosis checks (head checks for lice) will be done as needed on classes,
individuls, or activity groups.
Teachers and parents can request that a student be screened if they suspect
that a problem is occuring - for example, if a child complains that they
have trouble seeing the board, either the teacher or the parent can request
that the nurse do a vision screening.
Parents will be notified if a child fails a screening. In some cases, we
will advise you to check with your health care provider for additional
testing or treatment if it is indicated.
