Classroom Update:
Art Adventures was exciting this week. We created two different art projects
to go with the art pieces we were learning about. We have one more session,
and then we will journey to the Art Institute to see the pieces of artwork.
Included in our Friday folder is the permission form for this fieldtrip. We
will be going on Thursday, December 22 for no charge thanks to CEPO.
Students will need to bring a lunch that day as we will be eating in our
classrooms. In gym we have started our volleyball unit and it is fun to
watch how they have improved from last year.
Communications
My Diary from Here to There is our main selection for this week and
next week. We are learning about immigration and what it is like to move to a
different country. The students are using their creative ideas to write a
persuasive letter. The letter is from a turkey trying to get people to eat
something besides turkey for Thanksgiving. These are turning out to be very
interesting!
Math
Decimals to the hundredths place was our focus this week. We reviewed
decimals and compared their values. Check out the following website to help
your child practice their basic facts:

Remember, a few minutes each night will make a huge difference.
Social Studies
We are wrapping up our study of the Northeast states and will move on to our
first science unit next week. The students have learned a lot about these
first states.
Happy Birthday Grant!
