Dear Parents and Guardians,
The math department at Irondale High School has the reputation of being one
of the top high school math departments in the area. Schools from all over
the metro contact us because they see the success that our students have and
they want to be able to duplicate that success. An important component of
our success is the continued efforts the IHS faculty put forth in
professional development that refreshes our teaching and teaches us new
skills.
We have an outstanding opportunity to attend the National Council of Teachers
of Mathematics Regional Mathematics Conference being held at the Minneapolis
Convention Center on November 5th and 6th. This excellent professional
development opportunity, hosted in Minneapolis only every 5-6 years, will
strengthen our teaching and help us to serve your student even better.
Unfortunately, this conference conflicts with two of Irondale’s parent
teacher conference dates and we will not be available for conferences for a
portion of the November 5 conference schedule and all of November 6. As
teachers, we know that parent engagement with teachers is important to our
students’ success. For that reason, we are each dedicating time outside of
normal conference time to meet with you. If you wish to have a conference
with your child’s math teacher but one does not get scheduled, please contact
us personally either via email or at the phone number extension listed below
to set up a phone conference or to set up another time to meet.
