Bill of Rights (post 9.11)

Task

Your task is to write a letter to the editor of the StarTribune expressing
your opinion on the status of our country’s Bill of Rights, given the
increased security actions our country has taken since 9.11.

But before you can put pen to paper and write your letter, you need to
learn more about what has been happening. You will need to study
the USA PATRIOT Act, the anti-terrorist legislation passed by Congress
on Oct. 25, 2001. You will also need to reread our Constitutional Bill of
Rights.

Many people in our country feel strongly about the increased security
measures. Some feel its necessary—others feel we are
threatening our very foundations of freedom. It’s your job
to learn more about these differing opinions. Only when you have
explored these issues will you be able to develop an informed
opinion—an opinion worthy of publishing in the paper.
