Upcoming Orchestra Events
There are many music events scheduled
coming up before the end of the year. All concerts are free and open to the
public.
On Sunday, April 15 at 2:00 PM in the
Orchestra Room will be the annual High School Orchestra Honors Recital. It
will feature students who earned Superior Ratings at Solo and Ensemble Contest
on Tuesday April 3.
On Thursday April 19, the Middle School
Solo and Ensemble Concert will be held during the school day. All orchestra
students in grades 7&8 will be performing for a judge.
On Saturday April 21 at 7:30 PM is the
annual Jazz Concert. It will feature the five jazz ensembles offered in our
school district (Middle School Jazz Band, High School Jazz Band, Jazz Strings
Junior, Jazz Strings #1 and 2). Students should be at school by 7:00 PM for
warm-up and tuning.
On Thursday April 26 at 7:30 PM will be
the Fifth Grade Concert featuring the entire Fifth grade class, orchestra,
band and choir. Orchestra students should be at school by 7:00 PM for warm-up
and tuning. They should also "dress-up" for this performance. This concert is
free and open to the public.
There are also two concerts in May. The
first on Thursday May 17 at 7:30 PM is the Sixth and Seventh Grade. It will
feature Philharmonia Orchestra, 6-7 Boys and Girls Choirs and 6-7 Band. Once
again students should arrive at school by 7:00 PM for warm-up and tuning and
"dress-up" for this performance.
The last concert of the year is on Monday
May 21st at 7:30 PM, our annual Spring String Fling Thing. This year's theme
is It Takes Two- it will feature the symphony and Sinfonia Orchestras and the
Orchestra Class of 2012. Students performing on this concert should wear
all-black concert dress. We will tune and warm-up prior to the start of the
concert, starting at 7:00 PM.
The final music event of the year is
Graduation on Saturday June 2. The Sympnony Orchestra performs at Graduation
starting at 7:00 PM to play prelude music before the graduation ceremony
starts at 7:30 PM.
