Kindergarten: Students will study classes, activities and classroom nouns in Spanish
First Grade: First graders will review colors and begin to learn animal names using the Spanish version of Brown Bear, Brown Bear
Second Grade: We begin to study the months, seasons and weather in Spanish, learn how to create the date and talk about our birthdays.
Third Grade: Students will learn how to express feelings in Spanish. We will use actions, rhymes, songs and games to practice the new vocabulary.
Fourth Grade: We will begin a unit on classroom objects and learn grammatical structures for articles and singular and plural nouns. We will look at noun, verb and adjective agreement. The 4th graders will play pictionary to reinforce the new vocabulary.
Fifth Grade: We will continue in the Para Empezar Unit working with body parts and expressing feelings. Students will play Simon Says, do the Hokey Pokey and trace and label their own bodies. We will prepare for a quiz at the end of the month.
Sixth Grade: 6th graders will begin Unidad 3: La Comida (Food). We will study vocabulary and structures related to food, preferences, ordering and recipes. Students will create a Menu for a restaurant in Spanish and translate a favorite recipe to present to the class.
Seventh Grade: Students will begin Unidad 5: La Familia (Family). We will review family vocabulary, the verbs tener, ser and estar, and their meanings and uses. Students will design their own family tree, write a descriptive essay and present their family to the class in Spanish.
Eighth Grade: The 8th graders will continue in Unidad 7- La Ropa (Clothing). Students will learn vocabulary and structures to describe clothing, shopping and prices. We will learn how to compare and contrast articles of clothing and accessories. Students will also begin to work with past tense verb conjugations.
