Recorder Karate Dojo

WELCOME TO THE DOJO!
This is the spot for all things Recorder Karate! Check this page to see all
the cool stuff that the 4th graders are up to as they learn the recorder and earn their belts.

THE NEWS
2/15/08 ~ The Dojo is rockin! After our first week of Recorder Karate we have 19 students that
earned their WHITE BELT and are quickly looking toward that YELLOW.

2/25/08 ~ As of this morning, we have 6 yellow belts and 26 white belts--WOW! I am sure that we
will have some orange belts by the end of the week. Hey, if you haven't tried the online
dojo to practice you songs, try it out today, it's fun! Just follow the directions below.

2/29/08 ~ WOW! We have had quite a week--lots of belts earned. In Mrs. Kreger's class today,
everyone who tested was awarded a belt! We now have some karate students working on
their GREEN belt. The green belt song is quite a challenge. Just remember that those
double eighth notes are the same as a (ti-ti) when figuring out the rhythm. Also, don't be
afraid to learn a few new notes, even if the song you are playing does not use them.

3/19/08 ~ There has been a plethora of belts earned in the last few weeks. We also have a few
players that are really pulling ahead of the pack and almost to that black! (Hey, that
rhymed!) Maddie, Matt S., Thomas, Cameron, Anna, Katie, and A.J. have made some
incredible progress. Will one of them be the first Black Belt?
Students--don't forget to do some practicing over Easter break.
Visit the online dojo, listen to some streaming audio, and brush up on your skills.
