I was born and raised in Florida and received a Bachelor's Degree in
Elementary Education at the University of South Florida. I have been teaching
for 30 years, and during this time I have taught in Florida, Alaska, and, of
course, Minnesota. My experience has been in grades 1 through 5. This is my
thirteenth year teaching 2nd grade at St. Wenc, and I really LOVE working with
the children and parents of this school. St. Wenc has been a positive and
rewarding experience for me. It is a place where I really feel like part of a
strong community. I love teaching second graders because they are so eager to
learn and try new things.
I believe all children can learn. My many years of experience has awakened my
sensitivities to the unique individuals in our society. I work hard in
understanding student's needs and the learning styles and rates in which each
of them learns by. I welcome the challenge in instilling a love of learning
and a belief of capability in each student.
Outside of school, my husband and I enjoy spending time with our children and
going on weekend motorcycle trips. We have a 27 year old daughter who is
happily married and is a hairstylist for "Kids' Hair." Jim and I are step
grandparents to her 14 year old stepdaughter. We also have a 23 year old son
who works at Sam's Club in Savage. If you shop at Sam's Club, you may have
seen him greeting you and checking your card as you enter.
Our class is a safe, caring and motivating classroom where each student can
achieve their own potential academically and spiritually through
Cooperation - working together cooperatively to accomplish shared goals
Assertion - expressing one's self respectfully with certainty and confidence
in a Christlike manner
Responsibility - understanding and accepting consequences for one's actions
and completing assignments and tasks
Empathy - understanding another person's feelings and acting upon them
accordingly
Self-control - exercising one's ability to make good choices
through the cooperative partnership of our parents, our teachers and staff,
our faith, and God as our guide.
