Grades: (Updated 5/14/12)

Go to website and click on the grades tab.  Once you click on the tab, you will need to decide which grades you would like to view. I have several categories. Math Numbers, Reading Numbers, and Writing is how your child is doing on a 4, 3, 2, 1 scale in different math, writing, and reading areas. Math Percents is their overall percentage score in areas in Math. Spelling, Health, and Science are their overall percentage scores in each of those areas.

Once  you have chosen the grades you would like to view you need to enter your child’s student id and pin. Their student id is their class number (1-23). Their pin is their lunch number.  Once you have those you may view grades.  Keep in mind that sometimes I update grades even when students who have been absent or needed extra time on an assignment have not turned that assignment in, so there may be some missing grades for your child.Do not worry about this.  If there is a missing assignment and it is still there  two weeks later, that means your child has a late assignment they need to turn in or that they were absent and failed to turn in their work they missed.

Also realize that reading numbers, writing numbers, and math numbers are assessed on a 4, 3, 2, 1 scale and NOT as a percentage.  If you want to assess how your child is doing please look at the individual assignments to see how many 4s, 3s, 2s, or 1s your child has received. Do not look at the percentage.

We're hard at work on:

Math– Topic 24 - applying the math we know in real-life problems, taking the district math assessment

Writing – writing papers based on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Grammar – Review of skills

Reading– Drawing conclusions

Fiction Chapter Books - Questions and Reading done by the meeting date. Students are given 50 min. everyday to read their assigned pages and answer their questions. They even had an option of creating a reading plan with me. The meeting dates are as follows: Tues - Journey to Nowhere, Wed. - Trouble River, Thurs. - Watson's Go to Birmingham, Fri. - Holes

Spelling - Spelling is list including words that have vert in them.  Students also have two personal words that they choose to learn how to spell, and on the last test I will give two application words that follow the skill, but have not been reviewed by students.

Science/Health – forces of motion, consumer health
