How can I reach you?
My phone # is (636) 851-4299. If you are planning to leave a message that
needs to be delivered to
your child, you may want to call the office first (852-4200) and have them
forward--I don't always
see the phone light up--but the office can override my voicemail)
There is a link to my e-mail in the upper right corner or you can type
in: Joanne.Tirpak@fhsdschools.org
What are these pink slips attached to my child's papers?
Those slips indicate that I received that paper later than the others. That
may mean that your child
had not completed it on time, could not find it on time, or it may not have
had a name on it. There
is NO grade penalty for turning work in late so long as it is turned in
within 2 school days of the due
date. In addition, there will be a matching "white" slip in the weekly
folder. You may wish to match
up white with pink, to verify that all assignments were actually turned in.
Weekly Folder?
I strive to send home a folder every Tuesday. (Sometimes it will make it
home on Wednesday.) Within
the folder (it will be black), you will find the current graded papers, any
checks (those white slips) from
the PREVIOUS week, and school notes. There will be a sheet for you to sign
indicating that you are
aware of the checks and that you received the graded papers.
Will all the graded assignments come home?
Not necessarily. The children will have Reader's Notebooks which will
contain some of their reading
assignments. When I grade those assignments, I include a scoring guide,
which your child may or
may not bring home. There will also be writing assignments that are done
with the computers.
Again, your child will receive a scoring guide. Some parents like to know
every grade, while others
expect their child to monitor their needs. I will let you discuss what your
expectations are regarding
this with your child. If you need to contact me, please don't hesitate!
