I received my elementary teaching certification and early chilhood teaching
certification from Lindenwood University. I have recently completed my
Masters degree at Lindenwood as well.
I student-taught first grade at Becky-David Elementary with Mrs. Jensen for
the 2007-2008 school year. I was able to continue teaching in first grade
by assisting Mrs. DeBrock who was on maternity leave thru February of that
same year. I was fortunate to be able to continue teaching first grade as I
fullfilled a year-long maternity leave for another teacher, Mrs. O'Brien. I
have been teaching fifth grade since 2009. This is my third year in fifth
grade.
My husband's name is Doug. I have an eigth grader named Bennett and a fifth
grader named Max. They both love being students in the Francis Howell
District. They also enjoy basketball and baseball as well as playing video
games. We have a 17-year-old Sheltie named Yogi.
My mission is to see that all of my students will become better readers,
to become prepared academically for middle school, and to become well-
rounded 'star' students.
I seek to help my students become active an enthusiastic learners that are
self motivated. I also will help them discover the benefit of being strong
in character.
I seek to instill a life-long love of learning and respect for reading. I
promise to never forget what it is to be a student and take into account
your child's hopes, dreams, inspirations, triumphs, fears and failures. I
will assist them in any way I can so each child will reach the true
potential that is within them.
My specific goal for your fifth grade child is to help them prepare
academically and socially for middle school. I am primarily concerned with
each child taking responsibility for assignments and communicationg with
their parents. I encourage you as parents to use this website as a guide to
assist students in showing you they are leaning responsibility.
