About the Accompanist

Ms. Amy Swain was born and raised in Boonville, Missouri. She is the only
child of Bill and Dorolene Swain. Both of her parents were teachers and her
father was employed as Superintendent for several school districts in the
state of Missouri.

Ms. Swain graduated from Boonville R-1 High School. She attended Central
Methodist University and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal
Performance and a Minor in Piano. While at CMU, she was the accompanist for
the collegiate Women's Choir, was a music history tutor, and was featured in
numerous roles in Opera Workshop performances. Ms. Swain auditioned for the
Metropolitan Opera in 1998.

Ms. Swain returned to college to complete her Teacher Certification in K-12
Vocal Music from MSU, and she is 6 hours away from finishing her Master's
Degree in Educational Administration.

Ms. Swain lives in Springfield and has 3 children: James (23), Emily (19) and
Kate (18). This is her 13th year teaching. She is excited to be teaching
for the Carl Junction School District. She is very passionate about music
and believes that there is something truly magical about the partnership
between a musician and the accompanist.
