Arrival and Dismisal at School
Breakfast is served at 7:45, and our school day begins at 8:05.
Students are dismissed at 3:20. No student should be left on
campus after 3:30, unless participating in an after school
program.
Our Lunch Time
Our lunch time is 12:15 - 12:35.
Students eat with their classmates. It is imperative that you
supply a very healthy lunch for your child. If you child
is bringing a lunch from home, please remember that food
is fuel for the body. In order for your child's body to function
properly, it needs an ample supply of healthy fuel. After eating,
students go outside for recess everyday unless there is inclement
weather. On inclument weather days, students have recess in the
classroom. If you wish to join your child for lunch, please check
in at the office before joining your child.
School Attendance
School begins at 8:05. Our school uses the SIS computerized
attendance system, and are required to post attendance
immediately. It is extremely important that your child be on
time. You and your child should see school as a priority and see
to high attendance for your child. Of course, if your
child is sick, do not send your child to school. The number of
excused absenses accepted in each quarter is 4, for a total of 12
days per school year.
If your child is late to school they are asked to check in at the
4-5 office. Please remind them to do so to insure that they get
to class as quickly as possible.
Book Orders
Book orders are always optional! Your child will receive a book
order about once a month. PLEASE MAKE A CHECK or MONEY ORDER OUT
TO SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB AND NOT TO THE TEACHER. Cash is also
accepted, but not preferred.
Birthdays
Children are allowed to bring in Birthday treats that are easy to
pass out and do not require any cutting (Pre-cut cakes are fine).
Prepackaged candies, cupcakes, ice-cream bars, brownies, rice
crispy bars and the like are suggested. Items that require
cutting must be done in advance. Remember to send plates, and
forks if they are necessary. Also, napkins are always
required.
Please do not pass out personal party invitations at school.
Those who are excluded end up with very hurt feelings. Remember
to send in only enough treats for our class. In the past students
have wanted to travel to former teachers, their specials
teachers, the office, etc. in an effort to deliver treats. This
has resuted in missed instruction for up to 15 minutes...
therefore this will no longer be allowed. I would like
to ask that you please be considerate of allergies. We have a
student who is allergic to bananas this year.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent conferences are held in the Fall. In the Fall, the
conference will take place in your child's classroom. When
conferences near, you will receive a form please send the sheet
back with the day and time that will work best for you. Please
sign and return this notice as soon as possible. We will try to
make your desired time work, but understand that it is difficult
to schedule all students at their desired time. Please check
the school calendar for conference dates. In my class, students
lead their own conferences, so they must be present.
