I have a husband, Jay, and two kids, Patrick and Maria. This will be my
fourth year as a teacher. The last three years were wonderful experiences
and I think the kids and I both learned a lot. At the end of each day, I
always felt very blessed to be working with kids.
I love to do all things with my family. My son is a junior this year at
Missouri State University in Springfield. He just returned from China after a
five and a half month Study Abroad Program. My daughter is in eighth grade
at CJ and is interested in volleyball, basketball and track. My husband is
an agronomist for the University of Missouri Extension Office and will be
one of my biggest helpers in one of the science units that we will study on
Land and Water. As far as other loves, I enjoy dancing, going to movies, and
reading lots of books.
I am truly excited about teaching. Here's to a great year!
I believe that all children can learn and should be excited about doing so.
I want to be the link that creates that excitement so that true education
can occur.
As you will notice in my classroom, I chose a sneaker theme. Before you walk
in my room there is a quote above my door - "A journey of a thousand miles
begins with a single step." I love this quote and think that fifth grade is
truly a journey for most kids. They learn to organize their work; prioritize
their time; be kind to others. And sometimes the most difficult thing is to
just start or take that first, single step. I want to encourage these kiddos
to go ahead and step out and make the journey with me. It should be a
wonderful experience!
