Where do I go to pick my child up early?
Please go to the 6th grade office and sign him/her out.
Can I eat lunch with my child?
You may eat lunch with your child at any time unless we are on a
field trip. Our lunch time is 11:45-12:05.
Can I bring treats to celebrate my child's birthday?
Yes, please. However, I would like to ask that you make prior arrangements with me as our schedule may change
from time to time.
Can I volunteer at school?
We always welcome help from our parents. Please check in at the
office before entering any room. Please make prior arrangements
with me as some days I may not need any help.
What should I do when I know my child will be absent?
If you know in advance that you will be gone, and it is an
excused absence, talk to me to get your assignments before you go.
As long as you had an excused absence, you get to make up work
you missed for full credit. You have one day for every day you
were absent to make up the work you missed.
Extra handouts for absentees are placed in a "extra papers" bin
on a table in the room. It is your responsibility to talk to me
and then go this bin when you come back from an absence.
Anyone present the day before an test, but absent the day of the
test will be required to take the test the day they return to
class.
What do I do if my child is absent from school?
When your child is going to be absent from school:
1. Notify the school with a phone call
2. Send a note explaining the absence with your child when
he/she returns to school
What is the best way to contact the teacher?
One of the best ways to contact me is to send a note in with your
child, especially if it pertains to that particular day or a
change in their regular routine (i.e. dismissal). I can also be
reached my email, but this is not always checked at the beginning
of the day- I squeeze this in when I have a free moment. I am
also available via phone, just call the office and leave a
message. I will get back to you as soon as possible.
What do I do if my child is having a difficult time?
Children often express concerns to loved ones at the least
expected moments. Be prepared to listen and support them.
Please do not hesitate to touch base with me if you or your child
have a concern. The concern might be an issue with peers, the
class, or of a personal nature; in any case it doesn't hurt to
talk about it and see if we are able to address the issue.
Your child should always be comfortable at school and if this is
not the case their learning could be impacted. Also be aware
that if I have a concern I will be contacting you. I strongly
feel that communication between parents and teachers is important
to the success of your child as a student!
Does my child have homework?
From time to time your child will have homework. I encourage the students to read nightly, but do not require it. If you ever have a homwork situation that seems abnormal, email me and we can discuss the situation in great detail.
How do I access my child's grades online?
You can access your child's grades on our Students 1st website.
You may access the website by going to the Carl Junction Homepage
and clicking the "Students 1st" link under "Parent Login". In
order to create your account, you'll need to contact Mrs. Lilani
Runnebaum in the Carl Junction R-1 Central Office at (417) 649-
7026 to receive your access code.
What is the classroom activation code for Scholastic book orders placed on-line?
My code is the following: HVCCQ
