Monday, February 6

We will grade the scavenger hunt and silently read through the play "The Elephant Man" today.


Tuesday, February 7

Students will read the play "Elephant Man" orally in class.

Wednesday, February 8

Take the quiz over the Elephant man


Thursday, February 9
Students will read and article today about a Bridge disaster. The point of the article is to practice reading for information and being to able to recall facts.  However, it is important to make a connection to how the disaster happened in the first place.  The main cause was people not doing their job correctly.  Students will read the article using the SQ3R method.
S- Survey the story for words that are unknown or confusing.

Q- Turn the title into a question that will help your brain receive the information and to set a purpose for reading.

R- Read the article silently

R- Review the main points of the article

R- Recite the inforamtion without looking to see what you can remember.

After reading the article students will take a quiz.
Also, students will watch another video of a bridge disaster.

Friday, February 10
Students will view a power point on reading word problems. 
Next,Studentswill practice indepedently word problems on the following web site:http://www.mathplayground.com/wpdatabase/wpindex.html

Students will record answers and work on notebook paper for at leastfifteen problems. Two of the problems must come from the challenge section.Turn in your paper for a participation grade.

Students will continue to work with Math Playground.

Wednesday, February 15
Students will work on a number puzzle in class today.

Thursday, February 16
Students will receive a worksheet in class. We will do the worksheet together for a participation grade.

Friday, February 17
Students will take a test over math word problems today.


Monday, February 20 - No School


Tuesday, February 21

Students will work on brain teasers today.


Wednesday, February 22
Students will complete a Greek and Latin Worksheet today.

Thursday, February 23 & Friday 24

Objective- CA-RWE-3-1:Examine culturally diverse media
Music influences the world. Think about how much time you listen to music. It might influence you more than you think. Some artist use music to make a point about current events in our world. An author has a reason or purpose for the story, article, or song they write.
The three main purposes are:
1. to entertain
2. to inform
3. to persuade

First, we will view a Power Point presentation to review story elements.

Next, we will practice finding the elements in the following songs.

1.Traveling Soldier

2.Ballad of Jed Clampet

3.Big John

Monday, February 27

After last week, the students decided they need more practice.  We will be practicing with the song Big Irons.

If time we will practice with an Irish song about Glencoe.

 

Tuesday, February 28

Next, we will take a test over the song In the Ghetto.
Any time left over will be used for students to finish AR books or missing work.

 Wednesday, February 29

1.Students will arrange themselves in groups of three students.
2. Groups will choose a team captain to draw a song title out of the jar.
3. The group will plot the song out together and bring to the teacher to approve.
4. Next, students will each choose two story elements to be responisble for when they create the.
