February 7, 2012
DearParents,
Here’sthe buzz…another academic bowl is just around the corner! On Monday, February 13, we will load our buzzers and travel to Lamar Junior High for our math competition. We will leave at approximately 3:45, and we should return at approximately 9:00 PM. Please remember that our arrival time can vary and that your child is welcome to call you when we leave Lamar so you have a more exact arrival time. There will be a concession stand at Lamar, soyour child will need money for any food he/she wishes to purchase.
Asalways, I had a lot of talented mathematicians; however I can only take eightJH students and five sixth grade students. Our math teams for 2012 are:
CJ1 CJ 2 SixthGrade
*ErinP. *CyrusB. *Kaden C.
BrianW. EdithS. BrooksN.
ZachS. Matthew B. Will B.
MariaC. TJ R. Aaron S.
Paden L.
JH Alternate-Alex Hen. Alternate-JennaT.
I will need a sixth grade parent to travel around with the team. If you are able to travel to Lamar, PLEASE email me as soon as possible.
The rules for Math Bowl are a little different than our other bowls. The students will be able to use pencil and paper and they will be given 45 seconds to compute answer. If it is a rebound question the students are allowed 10 seconds to compute answers. As always, parents are welcome to attend the competition. I will send directions as soon as Lamar sends them out. If you did not receive an email permission slip, and your child is attending bowl, please contact me.
