Here are some frequently asked questions concerning Mr. Logan's class:
- What is a 'Daily Warm-Up?'
- How much homework should I expect in this class?
- What is the policy of this class in regard to make-up work?
- How can I access my child's grades online?
- Why didn't my child receive credit for this week's online bonus?
What is a 'Daily Warm-Up?'
Every day, Mr. Logan has a question written on the board that
pertains to the day's lesson. Following the question is the
number of the page in the textbook on which the answer can be
found. Students are to maintain a section in their Social
Studies notebook for Daily Warm-Ups. In it, they should write
the date, Daily Warm-Up question and answer...every day. This is
the first task students complete when they enter the
classroom...every day (with the exception of test days or days
otherwise noted). Periodically, the students are given pop
quizzes (or 'Daily Warm-Up quizzes') over this material. They
are always allowed to use the Daily Warm-Up section of their
notebooks on these quizzes--the answers are literally right
before their eyes if they've maintained this section of their
notebook on a daily basis.
How much homework should I expect in this class?
Social Studies will entail homework assignments. In most cases,
Social Studies homework will simply consist of completing
assignments not finished in class. On occasion, however,
specific out-of-classroom assignments will be made (i.e., special
projects, readings, etc.). Extended periods of time are
often allowed for the completion of these assignments. Students
can, on the average, expect to have homework in Social Studies
about once or twice a week.
What is the policy of this class in regard to make-up work?
Students may make-up work missed as the result of an excused
absence. All work must be completed and turned in within three
school days of the absence. Any assignments that were due the
day of the student's absence, however, are due the day of the
student's return to school. Make-up tests must also be taken
within three days of the student's absence. It is the student's
responsibility to schedule a time to make-up a test before or
after school; students will not be allowed to make-up tests
during class time. (*Make-up tests may be altered from the form
administered on the original test date.)
How can I access my child's grades online?
Parents can view their children's current assignments and grades
online through the Carl Junction R-1 School District's 'Students
1st' website. You may access the website by clicking on
'Helpful Links' in the column on the left side of the screen, then
clicking on the 'Students 1st' link. In order to create your
account, you'll need to contact Mrs. Lilani Runnebaum in the Carl
Junction R-1 Central Office at (417) 649-7026 to receive your
clearance code.
Why didn't my child receive credit for this week's online bonus?
Pay close attention to the directions if attempting to complete
an online bonus. Often, ALL of the answers to the bonus work
must be correctly completed in order to receive credit. Seldom
will there be an exception to this rule.
