What materials do I need for class?

You will need a three ring notebook with regular paper, graph
paper, dividers, and a pencil bag with pencils and a scientific
calculator. You will need at least two dry erase markers for
classwork as well. A few colored pens would be helpful for
grading.

How do you figure grades?

First, every student gets 10 points per day that includes
assignments that are due and behavior. Every week, I record how
many points a student get out of 50 (short weeks still count as
50). This will be called the homework grade in my gradebook, but
it is classwork, homework, and behavior.
I take the total points earned on homework and divide by the
total points possible. Like 40/50 is 80%. I find the mean of the
tests and quizzes given in class. I use a weighted average for
final grades like this: 40% each for tests and homework, 20% for
quizzes. So, the mean for each is multiplied by 0.4 or 0.2
depending and then the results are added for the final grade.

What does a homework assignment look like?

First, start at the top right hand corner with your name, move
down a line for your hour. The next line has the page number and
the problems assigned. The students must then write down the
problem and show work right on the paper with the problem. Never
number down the paper or do work in the margin or on separate
paper. I always say the problem takes up space like a big box and
many problems funnel down to an answer tornado style. No
assignments can be done in pen, for credit this must be reworked
in pencil.
