Hello! My name is Elizabeth Cosby and I teach 7th and 8th grade art. I am
resident of Pittsburg, Kansas, since 2000. I completed my undergrad with an
emphasis in art and art education.I then completed my Masters of Art in
Teaching at MSSU/MSU in 2007.
I am involved in various art shows in the four state area and I am advocate
for the arts. I also think art should be available and affordable to
everyone. I believe that creating art is a process in which we can explore
who we are and that the finished creation is the personal experience of that
exploration. I love to teach art, and I believe in engaging my students
learning experience by the use of music, cultural applications, and world
history.
I have traveled throughout the United States. My favorite experience so far
is the hike down the walls of the unpaved trail called “Hermit
Trail”, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon where I camped for 3 nights and 4
days. To see the wide open spaces and layers of beauty inspired me to make it
a mission in life to look beyond my horizon on this journey called life.
I am a dedicated mother, friend, believer, artist, and educator.
The goal of the Art Department at Carl Junction Junior High is to provide
each student the opportunity to learn that art is a visual communication,
thereby; opening the opportunity for different perspectives of life while
teaching the diversity of art through the study of the many various mediums
and cultural applications. Students will have the opportunity to create,
experience, and engage in the world of art. They will learn to express what
they feel about their world by utilizing art as a form of communication while
learning to understand and appreciate how diverse art can be and how art
remains throughout time.
