I have worked for Carl Junction Schools for thirteen years, teaching both 7th
and 8th grade English. I truly love teaching junior high. I received a
B.S. in English Education from Missouri Southern State University in 1996 and
a M.S. in Teaching English as a Second Language from Pittsburg State
University in 2006. My daughter Cassidi teaches 6th grade Language Arts in
Carmel, New York, is married, and has a six-year-old daughter, Hailey, who
is "the light of my life." My son Todd supervises the production of website
projects at an advertising agency in New York City, and has also become a
traveling amateur triathlete. My youngest son Kyle is a jazz musician, who is
majoring in music education at Missouri Southern State University and
travels with the Crowder Band and the KB Jazz Band. I love animals and have
two cats, Butterscotch and Tiger Lilly. I also love to read, garden, and
spend time with my friends.

Mission For The Class

My mission for 8th-grade English students is to prepare them for success as
they make the transition from junior high to high school. I wish to guide my
students toward self-direction, self-confidence, and independent thinking, as
they sharpen their reading, writing, speaking, listening, and thinking
skills.
