Dear Parents:
*** Reading: We will all be reading different books according to our reading levels. Encourage your child to retell
the story to you, talk about the characters in the story, ask comprehension questions. Thanks for reading at home
with your child.
*** Word Work: Our focus skill will be spelling with c and k. Use a k after e, i, or y and use c after a, o, u or any consonant. No Bonus Words this week.
*** Math: We will spend this week reviewing and preparing for our 1st quarter assessment. We will be testing over telling time to the
half hour, reading & comparing numbers (< = >), and drawing pictures to represent a story problem. I will let
the kids do the math facts for extra credit.
*** Science: The butterflies emerged last week!!!!! We will be talking about other animal life cycles. We will release the butterflies sometime this week.
*** 2nd grad project: In Social Studies, we have been learning about being a good citizen and working together in our community. We are now going to put what we have learned into action. We will be having a Penny War to collect donations for the police K9 unit. There will be a separate note going home about the Penny War. This is a great way for the kids to see that they can make a difference and help others.
