Mrs. Lybeck

Oh, where to begin! I cannot believe this is my the start of my twelfth year
of teaching...my how time flies! Teaching is such a rewarding and labor some
job that requires much dedication. Making memories, watching my students grow
academically and physically, and helping children believe in themselves is
truly the reward that makes it all the hours worth it. Thank you for the
opportunity to teach your child!

Now for some background information on me. I was born and raised in Southwest
Missouri spending my extra time in high school playing golf and basketball.
After many hours in the gym shooting basketballs and playing on many leagues,
I earned a full-ride scholarship for basketball. My first year of college I
played for the Missouri Tigers, which is quite ironic since I'm a huge Kansas
Jayhawk fan. However, the experience wasn't so pleasant, so I tranferred to
Missouri Southern. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education.
Once graduating, I spent two years teaching second grade and then three years
in fourth. I moved to Kentucky and then on to Texas...and then returned back
to Missouri where my friends and family were. I began teaching second grade
for Carl Junction in 2005 and I absolutely love it! I work at the best school
with the best people! I earned my Master's degree from Pittsburg State in
Educational Techology. I love utilizing technology in the classroom!
Throughout the summer, I found some awesome SmartPhone applications that
could be used within the classroom. So, my newest goal is to acquire an iPad2
for classroom use...so I'm on the look out for different grants to pay for
one. I am married to a great guy who is just as ornery as I am. My husband
and I will be married two years in October. My summer has been so busy
coaching basketball, spending time with my hubby, dogs, and friends,
and soaking up the sun. I love flip flop and tank top weather! I also joined
with another teacher and started a little crafting business. We
have two dogs (did have three, however, our Walker Coondog escaped from our
fence in April and we haven't found her.) So, now we currently have a lab
named Hemi Cude and a miniature dachshund, Bocephus a.k.a Bo Buddy. The two
of them occupy our time! I am the assistant high school girls' basketball
coach for Carl Junction, so from November to the end of February, my evenings
are spent at the gym. In my spare time, I love to craft, cook, shop, and find
new things on the computer. I enjoy most any sport and spend time on the
weekends fishing or being outdoors...and during college basketball season -
watching my Kansas Jayhawks. :)

My Mission

The mission I've chosen to accept is to empower my students and mold them
into independent life-long learners. Given the right learning tools, I
believe that any child can learn. One of my goals is to encourage the
children to showcase their skills with grace, while being humble enough to
realize we can learn from others. Learning should be exciting, yet
challenging - I work to accomplish this goal every day. Hands-on projects,
utilizing technology, and using physical activity are just a few of the
different strategies I use to keep learning exciting. My expectations
for the children in my class are very high. I believe that if you expect
great things...even greater things will happen. Without parent support and
involvement, a child's educational success is stifled. Working together, we
will make this an enjoyable and rewarding Second grade year.
