You will notice by looking around the school that our theme this year is centered around outer space.  We believe that reading is out of this world!  Our computerized reading program, Scholastic's Reading Counts, will help us reach out of this world reading goals this school year.

The children will carefully read Scholastic books, from our library or from home, and earn points on computer-based tests.  Although we want to earn a lot of points, the main goal should be a high percentage of correct answers.  Correct answers will indicate better reading comprehension.  The class will have a chance to earn rewards for their hard work.

Beginning in September, ask your child about Rhymes 'n' Times.  He/she should be able to tell you several rules and tricks for multiplication.  Ask your child to show you how they use their hands to multiply by nine.  This approach to learning multiplication is very entertaining.
The class is doing very well!
