New Things This Week:-continued our study of plantswatch our plants sprout and grow (Thanks Mrs. Whisman for helping us plant our seeds and for the treat)-learning about making change and buying things in a store-finding proof in text-character analysis-inference- inference is when you just figure things out without the author telling youUpcoming Events:.-No school Friday April 6th and Monday April 9th-Praise Moments:We earned our 100 bones last Thursday and celebrated with a buffet of treats (a quote from Laurel Shallenburger I thought was hillarious!) dipped in a chocolate fountain. Thanks to Mrs. Warren for providing the whole party! The kids looooooooooooved the celebration. We also enjoyed icecream from Randy's on Monday for coming in 2nd place in the box tops race. The kids are all reading on grade level which is fantastic!!! I"m so pumped about all their successes this year. We are just working on continuing to make gains in reading and comprehension. A big part of reading is being able to close a book after we read it and retell it. If your child can not close a book and retell the significant parts of a story then the story is to hard. Please take time while reading to ask questions about characters, setting, problem, solution, etc. This will make them an even better reader. It is also important as the school year ends that they read at least four books a week and discuss them with you. The gains we made this year can be lost in a matter of weeks if practice at home is not continued. Thanks for your help in this area! I start my weekly Dr. appointments this week so I will keep you posted on the babies status. I plan on being at school until the little guy decides to come. I will be available through email while I'm off if you have any questions. Please don't hesitate to email me.
