Homework Schedule

With the new math series, a math home-link page will go home with students every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday night. Students will be expected to complete and return it the next day. Be sure to save the Math Family Letter sent home at the start of each unit; it provides definitions, lists of skills to be mastered, and answers to homework problems. Any other homework your child will have is any daily classroom work that s/he does not finish within the school day. Other homework might consist of studying for spelling and math tests and reading aloud to someone at home.

 Homework Policy

Daily work and homework that is turned in late will still be accepted for full credit one day late. In a realistic setting, payments, bills, and other related paperwork are mostly accepted a day late without penalty. I want to provide that same setting in the classroom. However, to discourage students from turning in work a day late and to provide timely feedback to your child, there is an incentive for students to turn their work in on time.

A chart is displayed in the room to track student responsibilities, such as returning homework and library books on time, placing name and number on papers, keeping desk and folders organized, getting tests signed, returning forms requiring a parent signature, etc. I randomly track these items and award stickers for completion. At the end of each month, students with an average of 95% or above on demonstrating responsibility, will be rewarded and recognized. They will have the opportunity to eat lunch in the classroom with me and be given a chance to select a prize from the treasure chest. IMPORTANT: Students need to remember that daily work (during school) becomes homework if it is not finished.
