“Rethinks” are quick time outs to help students refocus and get back on
track. When a child is off task, they are asked to put their head down and
cover their eyes. The child must be able to identify what got them into
trouble in the first place, make a plan of what they can do differently next
time, and then demonstrate the appropriate classroom behavior. When the
student has finished a “rethink,” they let the adult know by giving a thumbs-
up signal.
