Mission Statement:  Field School professional educators and staff will ensure high levels of learning for all children.

Vision Statement:  Professional educators and staff will unite with a common purpose and clear goals.

Please save Hy-Vee receipts, Domino’s Heat Wave, Box tops for Education and empty ink cartridges.  These are all money makers for us to use for special things.

Social Skill for the Week:  Reporting to the Teacher

1.     Look at the teacher.

2.     Stay cool and use a calm voice.

3.     Ask to talk to the teacher alone

4.     Tell what you saw.

5.     Answer the teacher’s questions.

6.     Say “Thank you.”

BIST TIP

You may have noticed a poster in our classroom that identifies the three goals for life:

1.      I can take good care of myself, even if I am mad or have an overwhelming feeling.

2.      I can be okay, even when others are not okay.

3.      I can be productive and follow directions, even if I don’t want to.

We ask our students to identify which of these three goals they are having difficulty with when they make inappropriate choices at school

Dear Parents,

Don’t forget that our play will be on Tuesday, November 24 at 12:30 in Room 5.  The children have worked very hard on their lines and do an excellent job.  We are working hard on speaking loudly so every one will be able to hear.  Hope to see you here on Tuesday, November 24, 12:30.

There will be no spelling next week.  I will be sending home a list of words on Monday, November 30.

This week we have been writing factual paragraphs about the Food Power Exhibit we attended on Tuesday, using homophones, writing a paragraph using sequence words, (first, then, next last and finally), doing some common assessments, learning about estimation and partial sums in math.  We have finished reading all our letters from our grandparents and have put polish on our play.  We have been very busy in Room 5.

We decorated the Constitution Tribune’s tree on Friday.  Take a drive by to see the very creative work we have done on a Christmas tree.

Tuesday, The University of Missouri Extension, put on a program for the children at the Litton Center.  The children went to different stations that talked about healthy choices in food.  They got to see germs on their hands, and travel through the mouth, intestines and stomach and talked about what each does for our bodies.  The children really enjoyed this activity.  Malinda Kieffer and Bill Hayen helped to sponsor this activity.  Thanks so much for your help.

I would like to wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving.  May you have a table full of your favorite food and good family to help you celebrate the day we give thanks for our blessings that have been bestowed on us.

Emma’s dad, Andrew Williams, was in our room on Thursday to tell us about a trip to the emergency room. He showed us his stethoscope, told us what they would do when we got to the hospital, and let the children ask questions about the job he does as a nurse.  We enjoyed his informational talk.  Thanks you for sharing your talent with us.

Today the mid-terms came home.  Please look over them and sign the back of it and return to school.  This way I know you have seen your child’s report.

Attached to this letter are some writings of what the children are thankful for.  Hope you enjoy the writings.

Have a safe, happy, and warm weekend.  I’ll be waiting for my honeys on Monday.
