Absence/Tardy Policy

Attendance is an important part of your grade! Absences and tardies
DO have an effect on the number of points you accumulate during the
term.

Always let your supervisor know in advance if you're going to be absent (or
by a phone call in the morning if your absence is unexpected). YOU are in
their lesson plans for the day, and it can cause a lot of disruption if you
aren't there.

Clearly mark absences on your Time Sheet and get a parent/guardian signature
before the time sheet is turned in.

Tutors who have more than 2 elective absences may have additional point
deductions assessed on their grade. Good attendance correlates to good grades
in the class--there's a direct relationship between the two.

Attendance points are based on supervisor reports, your Time Sheets, and the
attendance office at Glendale. Be honest in reporting tardies and absences--
misinformation on your part can lead to a significant lowering of your
overall class grade or a grade of "F" for the term.

If you have a classroom assignment where the students go to art, PE,
the library, etc. during your Tutoring block, ask your teacher if there's
another teacher in the building who can use you during that time. It's OK
for teachers to share an A+ tutor.

Likewise, if your class or the students you work with are gone for a field
trip, testing, etc., ask your supervising teacher if they will find another
teacher for you to work with that day.

IMPORTANT: If your supervisor can't find another teacher who can use you, or
if they ask that you not come on a particular day, YOU MUST REPORT TO THE A+
OFFICE, MRS. MASLOWSKY, AT THE BEGINNING OF THE BLOCK. You'll be supervised
in the GHS A+ Office so you can earn your attendance points. Don't consider
it a 'block off'--be sure to report in and let Mrs. Maslowsky know you are
there.

Glendale attendance incentives will be added to the grades of those students
earning the incentive.
