February 13, 2012
Dear Parents,
Please make sure that your child brings in a decorated Valentine's Day shoebox
along with their Valentines to help them celebrate Valentine's Day with their
classmates. Our Valentin's Day Party will take place on Tuesday, February
14th beginning at 12:00 p.m-12:45 p.m. They will be dismissed for an early
dismissal day at 1:05 p.m. due to a Faculty Meeting. The parking lot will
close at 1:00 p.m on this day.
Show and Tell will not take place this week due to our day off on Friday,
February 17, 2012. I hope you and your family enjoy the days off of school on
Friday (2/17) and Monday, (2/20) for President's Day Holiday.
The children and I are excited as we have received a couple of our 'Traveling
Gingerbread' projects within the last week. So far we have enjoyed learning
about the state of California and are looking forward to learning about many
more states. After your child receives his gingerbread back in the mail,
please have him/her bring it into school and I will read their reports
throughout the week and will then mark that particular state on our class map.
This project is fun for everyone as we get to see how many states our
gingerbread man had traveled to and learn many interesting facts about the
different states throughout our country. It is also fun to see if some of the
states have been visited more than others by our special guest. Thank you for
your participation in this project.
The annual St. Patrick's Day festival will be held on Sunday, March 11th. The
Theme Baskets will be raffled off for only $1.00 a chance! The Kindergarten
Theme Basket is labeled 'Boy Favorites' and will consist of Lego sets, Star
Wars, Nerf accessories, Hot Wheels, Bakugan, and Target gift cards. You may
donate any of these suggested items or send a monetary/check donation which
will be used to purchase items for the baskets. Thank you in advance for all
of your support! Your generosity makes this project a success for Holy Infant
School!
The Girl Scouts of Holy Infant are sponsoring a 'Cereal Drive' for the St.
Wenceslaus Food Pantry from February 10th-February 16th. They are asking for
each family to donate boxes of cereal throughout this timeframe. The class
with the most collected boxes of cereal will receive an 'Ice-Cream Party' and
a dress-down day. The class who comes in second place, will receive and
'Ice-Cream Party.' On behalf of the Girl Scouts and myself, we truly
appreciate your generosity!
Thank you so much for the families who have donated Clorox wipes for our
classroom. Please know that they are truly being used effectively within our
classroom.
Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the cold weather. I
know that the weather has been quite different this winter but they definitely
need winter clothing items to wear during their recesses.
There is a 'Mission' bank on my desk and it would be wonderful if your
child could donate some of his or her loose change from home as the donations
are collected every two weeks within each classroom. Whatever monetary
donation will be greatly appreciated!
Happy Valentine's Day to you and your family!
