5th Grade Newsletter

Greetings everyone,

I am thankful for the sunny weather this weekend. I am looking forward to celebrating Thanksgiving this week with my family. We have so many things to be thankful for at this time. I would like to thank each of you for sending your child to Incarnate Word and for the privilege of teaching your child.

We have a chapter 4 math test on Tuesday. We will have a review session on Monday. After Thanksgiving break, we will begin addition of fractions.

Dec. 4 is the date of the explorers test. It is a difficult test, but with proper study each night, your child should do well. Everything on the test is in their notes. I will also give them an explorer study guide.

The past week has been devoted to building an earthquake proof building. So far, we have tested three buildings from each class with success. This project helps to prepare your child for upcoming projects in which problem-solving and group work is important. Hopefully it will also stimulate interest in the science fair. Dr. King and I will begin offering study sessions for the fair in January. We haven't fixed a day or time yet. Our next science test is Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Reminder: Photo Retake Day is Monday and Spirit Shirt Day is Tuesday.

Have an enjoyable Thanksgiving holiday and week.
