Can a student bring a Sunshine Book back to school before Friday?

All children should keep their Sunshine books at home until
Friday. Your child should read the Sunshine book each night. The
repetition helps build your child's reading confidence, increases
sight word recognition, and improves reading fluency.

What should my child bring on show and tell day?

Each week our class will have a letter of the week. On your
child's show and tell day, he/she may bring an item that starts
with that letter. Your child will also need to find a picture of
an item that starts with the letter of the week. This picture
should be glued onto a 3x5 index card. Underneath the picture an
ADULT should write the name of the object. It is very important
that the word be printed and that lowercase letters be used. Of
course if the word is a proper noun, it should start with a
capital letter.

Can my child bring birthday treats to school?

Your child is welcome to celebrate his/her birthday at school by
bringing in treats for the class. This can be done on your
child's half birthday if your child has a summer birthday. If
you decide to send treats, please send me a note a few days in
advance. No gum or candy should be sent as a birthday
treat. Since nuts tend to be a common food allergy, please do
not send any treats with nuts. Just a reminder, we have 16
students in our class. Birthdays are not a "dress out" day for
kindergarten students. Your child should wear his/her school
uniform.

How do I order from the Scholastic Book Club?

You can order Scholastic Books online at
www.scholastic.com/bookclubs. You will need to enter our class's
personalized user name which is mrsgambinoskindergarten and the
password which is booksforme. Place your order with your credit
card by the due date. Your order will come to me, and your
credit card payment will go directly to Scholastic's secure
server. Of course, you can always order by returning the order
form from the scholastic flyer that I send home. If you choose
this method, you will need to send a check made payable to
Scholastic. After I submit the entire class order to Scholastic,
your order will be delivered to our classroom for your child to
take home. Ordering online is the most convenient way to use
Scholastic Book Club. You can order anytime, right up until the
online order due date. You will also get instant access to over
500 additional titles plus online-only specials and discounts.
Every time a parent places an order online, our class will get a
free book for our classroom library.
