Typing Skills
Learning how to type properly is a very important skill for our students to master. I teach typing using the "home row" method where the students' hands are resting on the center row of the keyboard. "Home row" allows the students to type without having to constantly look down at their physical keyboards to search for the proper keys. With Instant Messaging and Emailing starting at such a young age, students are sometimes developing bad habits early. I would recommend encouraging your child to type properly from the beginning using home row and possibly purchasing some sort of tutorial they can use at home to reinforce what they are learning in the computer lab.
