HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
...and welcome back to school! I hope you and your families had a wonderfully
blessed and safe holiday. Your child should have received a thank you note
with a picture from me over the holiday break. If for some reason you did not
receive this, please let me know. I need to thank each and every one of you
for your generosity and especially for the creative, handmade box of
stationary! I truly love it!
Please make note of my classroom newsletter which will be coming home on the
first Friday of this month. Again, it includes great information about this
month of January.
First and foremost: Second Quarter report cards will be coming home this first
Friday. Look for these in your child's Friday folder. Where did this quarter go?
We will be leaving our fun Geometry math chapter and diving into subtraction.
We will use slate boards, memory games, and enrichment math sheets to energize
this new subtraction chapter.
Reading and Language Arts work includes some comparison writings, drawing
conclusions, and antonyms...not to mention another twist on our book reports
soon...Biography dress-up!
Students are sure to enjoy our next Science unit...Owls, Eagles, and the
Environment. More hands-on activities will be in order here!
Also new this month:
...Weekly Spelling words will now be written in ABC order
...Journal writings on the "Topic of the Day"
...Cursive letters practice for homework
and finally... to end the month... our school wide celebration of Catholic
Schools Week! Each school day between Mon., Jan.31st and Fri., Feb. 5th will
have a special focus, with an underlying theme. More to come later.
Stay warm and cozy with your family as we work and play throughout January!
