Mrs. LaMarche was a very reluctant reader when she was in grade school at St.
Pius X, and now...is that IRONIC 7th graders?
In her senior year of high school at Rosary, she decided not to take the AP
English class, because it sounded boring. Instead she took, "Evil in
Literature" with Mrs. Tuminia and Parody in Literature with Mrs. Glover.
These two ladies changed her thoughts of reading. Stories came alive. I
didn't want books to end.
Mrs. LaMarche's goal is to have students learn to love reading long before
senior year in high school!
PS--Once in college at Fontbonne, I wished I had taken the AP English,
because I ended up with a boring class my freshman year. :)
PSS--While getting my masters degree at Florida State University, I almost had
enough hours to become a "reading specialist" but I didn't think I would
EVER want to teach just reading. Ha Ha
PSSS--This is my 7th year of teaching reading (literature) at IW and will be my tenth year at IW. (3
years as a third grade teacher.)
Have fun and read. Read to have fun. Oh, and one more thing--Learn to think
deeper about subjects than ever before.
