Dear Parents,
Thank you for your understanding due to the recent cancellation of the fifth grade parent teacher conferences. While the untimely arrival of the flu was unavoidable, I appreciate your patience as we arrange a new time for conferences. A letter detailing the arrangements for conferences will be in the Friday folder.
Students have started the second quarter with spirit and determination, despite the occurrence of illness in the school community. All of the teachers who work with the fifth graders are doing their best to keep the children current with their studies and to help them to make up work when necessary due to illness.
Students are working on a campaign in Religion class that imitates the “little way” we learned about when we studied the life of St. Therese. Students are doing school wide service work with projects they have created, to show great love by doing little acts of kindness.
The fifth graders are ahead of schedule on their Vocabulary work and therefore, the week of November 9-13, students will not have a Vocabulary unit to complete and they will not have a test. In place of Vocabulary practice, students will be working on additional Language Arts activities that help the students develop strong writing skills.
Thank you to the parents who planned and carried out the Halloween party. I was sorry to miss the celebration, but I know the children enjoyed it and appreciated your efforts.
You will notice when you initial or sign your child’s assignment notebook that students are doing a wonderful job writing down their homework assignments.
The following dates are important deadlines or test dates for your child in my classes:
Religion Test , Chapter 6-Tuesday, November 17
Vocabulary Review unit due –Wednesday, November 18
English Paper-Three Paragraph essay-November 20.
English test-Adjectives-November 24.

Please contact me if you have any questions about the fifth grade program. I appreciate your
input and your support.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mary Ann Malone
