4th GRADE FOURTH QUARTER LETTER
Welcome to 4th Quarter! Can you believe how quickly the year flew by? Below
is some information on what the 4th grade will be learning this quarter.
RELIGION
We have learned a lot about Jesus this year! We will continue to learn about
Jesus through the Lord's Prayer, the commandments, and the sacraments of the
Church. We will also begin working out of our Family Life book starting the
week of April 25 and continuing over a two week period. Chapter and Unit
tests will continue to be given as we continue to learn about Jesus. Please
continue to study from those study guides!
SCIENCE
We will be finishing the school year with Physical Sciences. The students will
have the opportunity to work with measuring instruments in the fourth quarter.
Students will continue to work on experiments in class.
MATH
We are working on division design worksheets in which we have to map
coordinates with division facts to create a picture. We will continue to
take timed test. During the fourth quarter we will cover the following:
Fractions, Decimals, and Algebra. Please have your child continue to visit
my math links frequently. Through these links your child will continue to
improve their math confidence and performance. Have your child continue with
these games over the summer. It will give them a solid start in the fall
when school resumes. Also, I will make available to those interested summer
math packets. More information on this will follow. Watch for it to come
home with your child.
READING
We will continue to study the final units in our Reading books. These units
focus on study skills, map skills, context clues, comprehension, and sorting
out new ideas and discoveries. We will also be reading a selection of
chapter books as a class. Please have your child continue to read over the
summer. This will give them an edge when school resumes in the fall.
SPELLING
The students will continue with the VCV pattern (vowel-consonant-vowel) and
words with suffixes. The students will also learn to spell three-syllable
words and words with silent consonants. Weekly tests will continue.
ENGLISH
For fourth quarter we have just finished verbs and will be starting creative
writing and continue to diagram sentences. Included this quarter will be
adverbs, punctuation, capitalization, homophones, negatives, double
negatives, abbreviations, titles, commas, apostrophes, addresses, and direct
quotations.
SOCIAL STUDIES
The students will continue to learn their States and Capitals. We will also
finish up Missouri history with learning about our government and how we can
participate in our government.
We are looking forward to an exciting and productive fourth quarter!
