Homework

3a & 3b: We've been working with a partner on digital story-telling. We created a story, then illustrated it with KidPix. We added audio, and audio text. Now we're putting our work together into a presentation with animated transitions in KidPix Slideshow.
4a & 4b: We're creating a PowerPoint presentation on "My Amazing Animal," using the links in I Keep Bookmarks.
5a & 5b: We set up records in UltraKey to work on keyboarding, and completed Lesson 1 and Skill Check 1.
We created a "Wordle" with the paragraphs we wrote for the Science Fair. Soon we'll begin using MS Word to create our own cartoons.
6a & 6b: We're beginning PowerPoints on an assigned national park or monument, using BlueMountains to find photos. We completed our newspaper from Abe Lincoln's time. We wrote 2 stories and an ad for the paper, used section breaks, creating columns, hyphenation, and wrapped text around a picture. We created a "Wordle" with the paragraphs we wrote. Then 6b summarized what we learned on Wallwisher!
7a & 7bThis week we began a project in collaboration with Señora Weckback: a PowerPoint presentation about an assigned Spanish-speaking country. We're using photos that are licensed with Creative Commons, using the photo search tool, Blue Mountains. We're working on research techniques to support the term paper project with Mrs. Donnelly. You need a library card number to access books and download articles from the library database. We practiced using the library website during computer class on Jan. 11 with 7b and Jan. 18 with 7a. Help with your research paper can be downloaded on "Homework Help" page
Our keyboarding homework is online. Complete Keyboard Drill 3 and print it out, was due on Thurs., Jan. 26 for 7a and 7b. Of course, you can turn this drill in early.
8a & 8b:
We're working on research techniques to support the term paper project with Mrs. Donnelly. You need a library card number to access the electronic resources of the library. We will use this library card number in every computer class this month, as well as your Diigo account password. You need 2 books, 2 electronic database articles, and 1 source of your choice for the term paper project. Here's a link to some guidelines to help you evaluate a web page. You can download the same page on my "Homework Help" page.
Using your Diigo account, add 15 bookmarks with descriptions and tags. All bookmarks should pertain to your research paper or KSGM script. Due Jan. 30.
Each 8th-grader received a username and password to use on KSGM's private wiki. The 3rd Quarter script was due Jan. 20 for 8a and 8b. The 4th Quarter script will be due March 28. Your assigned date for the script is one the "Script Assignment" page on KSGM's private wiki. Help with writing on the wiki is on my "Homework Help" page. The rubric can be downloaded on "Homework Help" page
