FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
On my child's birthday is it alright to send a treat? Yes, any big event in your child's life is worth celebrating. According to school policy, all snacks must be store bought. We like to enjoy treats in the afternoon..so if you would like to send a treat please deliver it before school or after 1:00p.m. What if I have a conflict and my child's homework does not get completed? Communication is one of the keys to your child's success. I do understand that events may arise and your child may not get his or her work done on time. Please send a note or call me before school and I may be able to extend the assignment. What is the class behavior color code? Each day is a new day for your child. Students start the day off with 5 behavior cards. Each time a student breaks a school/classroom rule they must flip a card. Each morning the students start out on the color green, which stands for great. If they have to move to yellow, they are given a warning. After yellow, the next card is blue. When a student lands on blue they must lose 5 minutes of their recess. In the event that another rule is broken the student will then move to orange. Orange means that a student loses 10 minutes of recess. The last color a student can be on is red. Red represents all of recess lost and a visit to the principal. In the event of bad weather will the school notify me? YES, the school has a new all-call system that contacts each household in the event that school is cancelled or is going to close early. Does the school offer tutoring? Although there is limited space the school does offer tutoring. If you feel that your child is in need of tutoring contact your classroom teacher right away. What is the new school policy regarding field trips Parents that are chaperone's on field trips must obtain an FBI fingerprint check. Results must be submitted to the school. These parents will also be asked to ride the bus to and from the trip. Classes are only allowed to have a specific amount of chaperone's per room. Check with your classroom teacher regarding the specified amount of that class. |
