My name is Sandra Marler and I am enjoying being in the library. I received
my Bachelors Degree from SEMO and my Masters Degree from Webster University.
I passed my Praxis for Library-Media Specialist in 2005. I have taught here
at Sunrise since 1982, mostly in first grade. I enjoy this environment of
being able to personally know each student in our building. I am married
and have two grown sons. I have one grandson who was born August 18th. How
exciting!!
Our mission for the Library-Media Center is to support and enhance the
teaching and learning environment by encouraging students and staff to become
literate and effective users of information and technology.
Our school library serves kindergarten through eighth grade and the
staff.
This is a wide age span and we need to have items that appeal to all of them.
We now have approximately 16,000 books and audio-visual materials for them to
use. Our school board has been very generous to allow us to make purchases to
correlate with our curriculum and in any areas of need. I do take requests
from students and staff each year and will consider them when ordering.
Kindergarten students can check out one book each visit. The other
students will be able to check out two books at a time. I will send late
notices if it is over two weeks past due at each reporting period. The
students will need to return the books or pay for them before the end of the
year in order to receive their final report card.
