My name is Mary Radford. I have been teaching at Sunrise School for 20+ years.
I have one son, Victor. He has spent a year in Iraq and is back home safe.
Victor will be going back to Iraq, this year for a second tour. He leaves the
end of August, 2008.
Welcome to Fourth Grade
Throughout the school year, we focus on the class as a community of
individual learners who come together to share experiences and learn.
The third grade Reading curriculum is based on Reading First. This
Program's focus is 90 minutes of reading,word Study,vocabulary,comprehension,
and fluency reading.The core reading series is called "Treasures", published
by Macmillan.
Modeling of Read Aloud books continues throughout the school year to
demonstrate strategies and skills to use during small reading groups.
The fourth grade Math curriculum is based upon the Missouri Mathematics
Series developed by Scott Foresman/Addison Wesley.
In addition to arithmetic, the curriculum develops concepts and skills in
numeration, operation and computation; data and chance; geometry; measurement
and reference frames and patterns.
The Missouri Science Edition by Harcourt School Publishers is used in
fourth grade. In Life Science, we study about Living
Things.
In Earth Science ,we study about Earth’s Land, Weather and Space.
In Physical Science, we study about Matter and Energy; Forces and Motion.
In fourth grade the students are also required to make a Science Fair
Project.
