We are in a very big need for Clorox wipes and one or two cheap brooms.
Wish List: Harvest Spice Air Wick,Miracle Gro, Potting Soil, colored card
stock paper !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are having a great time writing poetry. The children are writing up a
storm.
The children are doing so well with sight words we are shooting for 15
seconds this week. Let's Go!!!!!!!
Each day make sure the children bring to school their yellow folder, blue
reading folder, and red word wall word journal. Please make sure that all
word wall word homework and vocabulary homework is completed in the word
wall
word journal. Place math homework in the yellow folder.
Please sign the behavior log each night. The only way I know you have seen
the folder is if I see your signature.
Basic Information
1. You may send a bottle of water for your child to drink each day. The
children are allowed to drink throughout the day as long as they are not
around the computers or other equipment.
2. All money sent to school needs to be in an envelope with the child's
name. Please write on the envelope the purpose for the money. If you are
sending lunch money, make sure the lunch number is written on the envelope.
Helpful Hints
1. Go to the web site and have your child copy the homework into his or her
steno pad over the weekend. You can print out the homework and tape it into
steno pad. This saves a lot of time in the morning routine of writing down
homework.
2. Students can go ahead and write weekly sentences and just turn the
sentences in the day the are due. Big time saver if your child has weekly
activities outside of school.
3. Sight words and vocabulary words do not have to be spelled. Word wall
words have to be spelled. Index cards are great to flash sight words and
play matching games with your vocabulary words.
4. It would be a great idea if the children started working on word wall
words
and vocabulary words on Fridays. It gives them more opportunity to learn
the words.
5. The Ann Smith AR reading list can be found at
www.schoolnotes.com/39157/perk1.html website.
Word Wall Words
1. Start on Friday learning the new words.
2. Call out the words and have your children build the words with playdough.
3. Have the children write their words on doodle pads.*** Make it fun
4. Type out the words. Cut the words apart. Glue the words back together.
5. Build the words with pipe cleaners.
6. Build the words with toothpicks.
7. Build the words using magnet letters.
8. Bounce out and spell the words. Each time the ball is bounced say a
letter of the word.
Vocabulary Words
1. Draw a picture of the words.
2. Have a contest to see you can make up more sentences with each word.
Don't worry about writing each sentence. This activity can be done orally.
3. Find the words in the shared story if you have a copy of the story. You
can check out many of these books from the public library.
4. Write sevral sentences on a sheet of paper and have your child place a
card with the correct word in each blank.
5. Start going over the words on Friday.
6. Play jeapordy with the definitions and sentences that match the word.
