Classroom Procedures

1) When Entering the Classroom
*Unpack backpack
*Put folder in basket
*Get lunch tag and go to breakfast
*Go to bathroom	
*Check job chart and complete assigned job
*Do journal writing/morning work
*Read AR book

2) Bathroom Break-Time
*Stand in line quietly until it is your turn
*As one boy/girl comes out, the next can go in
*Use the restroom
*Wash hands
*Come right out when finished
*No talking/playing in the bathrooms


3) Lining Up
*Line leader at the front/Caboose at the back
*Wait for teacher to call you to line up
*Everyone faces forward in line
*Hands at your side and feet on the ground
*No talking


4) Walking in the Hallway
*Arms at your side
*Mouths closed
*Stop at stopping points
*No talking or playing
*Keep up with the person in front of you
*No running – use marshmallow feet


5) During Announcements
*Stop everything you are doing
*Listen carefully
*Hold questions until the end of announcements


6) Using Good Manners
*Say thank you when someone does something nice for you
*Say yes mam/sir or no mam/sir when speaking to adults


7) Coming to Attention  “Give Me 5”
*Teacher holds up hand and says “Give Me 5.”
*Students have five seconds to: 1- Eyes Watching 
			      2- Ears Listening
			      3- Quiet Body
			      4- Quiet Mouth
			       5- Criss Cross Applesauce


8) During Carpet Time
*Walk to the carpet quietly
*Criss cross your legs on your spot
*Raise your hand to speak
*Keep hands/feet to yourself
*Be a good listener
*Talk during group time must be about the subject we are talking about


9) When You Are Absent
*Check basket for missed homework or notes
*Put missed homework/notes into your folder


10) Getting Pencils
*There will be 2 sharpened pencils in your tray on your desk when you enter 
the classroom in the morning
*If the lead breaks in one of the pencils, you may exchange it for a 
sharpened pencil when you have a break
*Do not get a new pencil until you have returned the unsharpened pencil into 
the unsharpened pencil cup
*Never get up during work time or test time to get a new pencil


11) Coming Back Into the Classroom
*Quickly find your seat
*Sit quietly and wait for instructions


12) When You Don’t Know How to Spell a Word
*Check the word wall or posters around the room
*Ask a neighbor
*Sound it out
*Ask the teacher


13) Lunch Time
*Stand in line quietly
*Hold tray with both hands
*Get everything you need while in line
*First ten minutes of lunch eat quietly
*Last ten minutes of lunch you may whisper to your neighbors
*Raise your hand if you need something
*Ask your neighbor if you need help opening something
*When you are finished eating, pack all trash onto tray and close milk
*Throw trash into garbage can and put tray in window
*Line-up on blue line quietly


14) Asking a Question
*Raise your hand
*Wait to be called on


15) Headings on Papers
*First and last name on paper
*Date on paper


16) When Finished with Work Early
*Read AR book
*Complete any unfinished work
*Go to the free center. 


17) When Visitors Come into Classroom
*Continue working quietly
* Do not interrupt the teacher while she is talking to a visitor.
*Do not talk to visitor unless they talk to you.


18) Silent Reading
*No talking
*If you have a question, raise your hand and wait to be called on
*Do not interrupt while a student is reading to the teacher


19) Taking an AR Test
*Make sure you have read the book several times and that you are ready to 
take a test
*Log in and take your test
*Let your teacher initial your log
*Return book to the library


20) Test Taking
*Folder up in front of you
*Only use pencils with erasers
*Eyes ALWAYS on your paper
*No talking


21) Turning in Papers
*Make sure your name and date is at the top
*Turn papers into designated locations


22) Throwing Away Trash
*Put trash on the edge of your table
*Throw trash into garbage as you complete your task


23) Working Cooperatively
*Work as a team
*Compromise
*Take Turns
*Share
*Talk quietly


24) Playing on the Playground
*Hands to yourself
*Never go up the slide.  Always go down.
*Swing sitting on your bottom…not your belly.
* Do not pick up rocks or throw them.
*Watch for your teachers signal to line up and go inside.


25) Going to Special Area Classes
*Walk in quietly and sit down
*Wait for instructions
*Quietly line-up when the teacher asks 


26) Fire/Tornado Drill
*Stop talking
*Get out of your seat quietly
*Line-up at the door
*Take nothing with you
*Listen for instructions

27) Before You Leave
*Clean up your work area
*Push your chair up to your desk
*Put homework folder/AR book into your backpack
