My name is Gwendolyn Pettis. I am a graduate of The University of Memphis
where I received a B.S. Degree in Early Childhood Education and later
obtained my Masters in Elementary Education from The University of
Mississippi. I have been teaching in the South Panola School District
since 1985. Prior to that I taught kindergarten in Memphis City Schools
for seven years. I began my career at B.E.S. with 2nd grade. In 1999
I moved to kindergarten. In 2000 I became a Nationally Board Certified
Teacher with lots of help from a great kindergarten class. I have always
loved teaching and probably taught some of you! What a joy to now see your
children in school.
I am married to Harold Pettis and between the two of us we have three
daughters and one son and our most precious two year old granddaughter, who
will turn three on September 4, 2011! We enjoy spending time with family,
going to church and traveling.
My teaching assistant is Mrs. Donna Walls and we have worked together for 22
years. We have shared many wonderful experiences together and hope we have
made a positive impact on lots of lives.
Mrs. Walls is married to Thomas Walls and they have two wonderful sons and
four adorable grandchildren.
My goal for the children that I teach is to make them lifelong learners who
love to read and write. I want each one to feel love, kindness, and safety
in our classroom.
