January 1st, 2012   Happy New Year, everybody! 
District Festival
We will have many 7th and 8th grade students traveling to District Festival February 22nd, 2012.  Each group will be preparing 2 songs on which they will be rated.  Any group that receives a Superior rating will then go on to State Festival in Jackson in March.  Please encourage your child during these two months as we get ready for our biggest competition of the year.  Girls who will be going will be receiving their choir dress soon.  Boys who will be going will need to have black dress shoes, black socks, black slacks and a white long-sleeved, button-down dress shirt.  Please email me at ljones@spsd.k12.ms.us if you have a question or concern. 

November 28th
Christmas Concert
Back from Thanksgiving break and hitting the ground running.  I am looking forward to our Christmas concert that will be December 8th in the auditorium.  We are asking everyone to bring a canned food item as admission and will donate these to the local food pantry.  Students need to dress in Christmas colors.  They need to wear something more formal like slacks or a dress for girls.  Boys can wear khaki or black pants. 
Students need to be at school in their seats at 6:00. 
All State Honor Choir
I am very proud to announce that we have 3 students from our school who made the Mississippi All State Honor Choir.  They are Riley Young, A. J. Norwood, and Destiny Moses.  I am so proud of all of my students who were chosen to audition.  You all did a great job!!

October 16th
Open House
I am so proud of our choirs that sang for Open House the other night.  You all did such a great job!!  Thanks for all of your hard work!

Fundraiser
Our choir fundraiser is over and I am still counting orders.  I will let you all know who our  big sellers where in a day or 2. 

Honor Choir
6th graders who are working to go to honor choir auditions, October 29th in Tupelo, can meet with me after school this Thursday, October 20th and next, October 27th until 4:30. 


September 15th

Choir Fundraiser Begins September 23rd!! 
Parents, we are going to start our Great American fundraiser in a couple of weeks. This was a great way to fund our choir last year.
We will be getting choir shirts before we sing October 11th.  All choir members who sell 10 or more items during the fundraiser will not need to pay for their shirt.   If you opt out of participating in the fundraiser, the choir t-shirts will be $15.00.  I will be sending home more information about this during the next few days. 

The choirs that will be singing October 11th are 1st and 3rd periods. 

Honor Choir
All 6th grade students who wish to get the music for All State Honor Choir auditions need to return their form ASAP. 

Thank you for all of your support.  I have really enjoyed talking to many parents.  It is a joy to see your children learn new things. I look forward to meeting many more of you in the future.

August 25th

School is off to a great start!!

I am so excited about our great group of students at BJHS!! I am overwhelmed with all of the talented students that have come our way.  The choirs are really working hard and are sounding so good.  We are looking forward to many up-coming events.  Some choirs will be singing October 11th at our open house here at school.  I will be sending home letters about who will be singing.  Right now, the students all need to be obtaining a pair of khaki pants. The pants need to be full length pants.  I will send home information about choir shirts, etc. very soon.  Thanks for your support! I look forward to meeting more choir parents in the future.
